YARG music licensing policy

100% of content released by YARC (generally known as "charts" or game levels) is uploaded by YARC. We do not endorse any external charts or services providing charts. Being a rhythm game, each of YARG's levels are synchronised to the rhythm of a song.

We look to cover usage within the game, related website and video content. Note that this does not necessarily cover further usage on other platforms in cases where profit is involved. Some artists may request profit share in such cases (where the platform allows for it, e.g. user uploads to YouTube).

YARC licenses all music under non-exclusive terms, allowing simultaneous licensing with other platforms (it is our belief that we should not be limiting good music to only our platform). Our provided song request form for artists (listed in the Contact section at the bottom of the page) allows artists to grant YARC licenses on indefinite terms. Songs submitted to our song request form for artists may not be immediately used as in-game content.

In the case that music artists wish to negotiate directly with us about licensing, we generally prefer to negotiate licenses on perpetual terms due to the nature of usage (users expect charts to stay available indefinitely). Payment is provided as a fixed negotiable once-off royalty.

Music artists who grant YARC permission to use their works retain full ownership of their works, and both parties indemnify and hold harmless each other from and against third party actions. YARC distributes such works only in YARG, gives credit to such artists in-game, and does not sell or profit from such works. YARC may make reasonable changes that do not hurt the integrity of these works, such as mixing the audio and creating stems from the audio.
